Virtual Drop-In appointments are for current BIMS, USVM, NRSC-TPC Majors

The CVMBS UG Advising Office (BIMS, USVM, NRSC-TPC) wants to provide our students with quality, timely advising.  The Virtual Drop In dates, shown below and updated weekly, are for Spring 2022 Semester-Pre-Registration Advising and Advising.  All student appointments are one-on-one, while most appointments are conducted via Zoom, accommodations for in-person appointment can be made by calling 979-845-4941.  The in-person appointments will be held in our office, located in VIDI 123 with safety measures in place.  Please call 24 hours in advance if you plan to attend an in-person, drop-in appointment.  Thank you!

Note: Regularly scheduled appointments for a Monday or Tuesday can be scheduled through Navigate via your Howdy Portal.

Virtual Drop-In Times:

Morning Drop In Hours: Advising Starts at 8:30 am-11:30 am. You may log on early at 8:00 to get checked in and in line for advising, last student checked in will be at 11am, depending upon wait times.

Lunch: OFFICE CLOSED 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Afternoon Drop In Hours: Advising Starts at 1:30 pm-4:30 pm.  You may log on early at 1:00 to get checked in and in line for advising, last student checked in will be at 3:30pm, depending upon wait times.

  • Must use your NetID and Password for Zoom.  It will require your email address to authenticate you for advising sessions (You may do this through your howdy portal).
  • To expedite your drop-in appointment please come prepared with all of your questions and concerns so we can answer them during your appointment. 
  • Students will be seen on a first-come, first serve basis.  You will be seen based on your Navigate check-in and zoom admittance.  Please be aware that wait times may increase during peak advising. Services we can assist with at this time include: Spring 2022 Schedule, Final Degree Audit, and Holds.
  • Please send any forms that you will need signed or processed to before logging onto the zoom.

  • Students! You will be emailed weekly with any updates, changes, and reminders.  Please make sure you are using this information to see our messages.
    • Did you know that the move to Microsoft 365, you may need to make sure your filters are working properly for receipt of TAMU Emails? Information can be found here: Pay particular attention to the heading that is titled “NEW FEATURES” with subheadings “FOCUSED INBOX” and “JUNK EMAIL FILTER”.  Emails from TAMU and BIMS in particular are getting put into the “other” and “junk” boxes after the move. You can correct this using the helpful links on the webpage. (For those on Google please also check your spam folder for important information that is filtered from Microsoft 365 users to Google users).

Important Q Drop Information (To Be Completed before you log onto Zoom)**:

**Fall 2021 Q Drops/Withdraws are CLOSED as of November 19th at 5pm. Please Note: For Zoom – this is for a Q DROP only, there will be NO advising during the Zoom. Steps to follow BEFORE your appointment: 

  • Complete a Q-Drop Form here:
    • Prior to logging on Zoom, return the completed Q-Drop form to from your email account as a PDF attachment.
    • CALL FINANCIAL AID: your course will not be dropped unless you have spoken with Financial Aid first: 979-845-3236. – NOTE: Q-dropping may adversely impact financial aid, eligibility for tuition rebate, eligibility as a dependent for insurance coverage, veteran’s benefits, athletic eligibility, scholastic probation, eligibility for extracurricular activities and some types of employment, etc.
    • Student-Athletes (including practice players, managers, and trainers) have received guidance from Athletics on drop procedures. Please follow this guidance and leave extra time for signature routing.
    • International students should receive prior approval from international student services before dropping below full-time.
    • A course will NOT be dropped until your form is received and you have met with a member of our Team. This is a 2-step process.  “SUBMITTING THIS FORM DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT YOUR COURSE WILL BE APPROVED TO BE DROPPED.” Please remember that courses in which you are making a “C” or better should be continued and finished.  If you are making a “D” or an “F” in a course, it would be eligible to consider for dropping. 
    • After all steps are complete please check in to Navigate then join the Zoom Meeting link.
